Resource Requisition l Inquiry

Most natural disasters are common and can be found at any time in the world.

Humans need shelter protection against natural disasters. Storms may be common disasters but are really powerful sometimes.

Mathematics also can help during buying products to prevent natural disasters. The mathematics to use during disasters are measurements.

Natural disasters come in all sorts, and make huge global problems around the world.

Fishing false teeth | Activity 1 Day 2

We have done a task that includes with the summer learning journey, it is called Fishing false teeth.

First we read the article for us to understand what to do for the activity. we also watched video of fishing false teeth.

After, we did the first template. We did this to understand who they are, What part did they played, and What was the outcome was for them.

When we finished doing the template we did the comic, For the comic we had to try and fill out what they could be saying.

I enjoyed doing this task but it was a bit difficult for me to try and put the sentences into my own writing.

This is my example below.

safe things to do.

LI-different people have so much different feeling/emotion

Today we are doing inquiry for inquiry we are learning to do safe things with our emotions .

This week in Inquiry we learned about types of touches and safe things to do when you feel different emotions. Im good at playing the piano, I'm not good at sports. I like to dance and I don't like boxing. Things that make me happy is when my dad make funny faces.

Safe things to do when you are angry listen to music. We also learnt about 3 types of touches which are touches you like, That hurt and confuse you.

A safe situation is going to the store with your family, A unsafe thing to do is like going to the park with some you just met from school who is new to your school.

Maori - Volcano activity

In maori we had an activity called volcanoes. What we had to do for this activity is that we had to find the names of different places in maori.

First we got split into some groups  to learn simple maori words for an example: potae for hat, koa for no and tatari for wait. When we finished learning about these simple words we got off to do our volcanoes task.

Kiwisport

In kiwi sport we learnt three skills that involve with touch. The three skills were planting the ball, two man settle and three man settle.

Man settles are when you plant the ball step backwards over the ball for your partner to grab the ball. Planting the ball is a easy skill but you have to do it properly to make it easier for your team to score.

The only time you can plant the ball is when you get touch by a player in the other team. To plant the ball you need to have both hands on the ball ready to plant it on the floor then step back for your partner to pick it up then they pass to us.

Then we had to carry on doing the same thing till you score. Also you can only get touch five times and on the fifth time you get touched then its the next teams turn to try to score.

Maths

LI - To practice range of strategies to solve questions using all four operations.

For our second session were using multiple strategies to solve completely different equations. My group got up to complete. We had to use a heat temperature to read the heat of the water in our cup.

Writing T2W2 - 3

This is my writing for this week we had to learn about how to make planes and put them on a drawing to help us put everything in place.

This was a easy activity to do but it had a little bit of challenges in this, but there were things that helped us with the activity. In this we had to put everything together in the write way but it was alright to be in different shapes for example small, medium, big, and huge.

reading - T3W7 - 2019

LI - To learn about using QAR.

For our reading this week we had to do this writing by using  right there, think and search, author and you and on my own.

We had to write what we think about uniform but we also had to search things to find out about uniform then when we have searched of what we have been looking for we had to then we will have to check and see if the work made sense.

For what we had to do for synthesis we had to do and use the same things for it but we had to just write it in longer sentences.

Writing / T3W2 - T3W3.

LI - To comment about the ball that you think is better for playing handball.

The rate for the tennis ball is 9/10.
For my opinion I wrote up...

I like the tennis ball because it is better for handball.

And for reason I wrote...

The tennis ball is good for handball because you can bounce it low if your challenging tall person and they will be out.

And for my explanation I wrote 1 The tennis ball is good for playing handball because it makes the game more challenging for people.

Opinion:The tennis ball can be used for skimming people out.

Venn Diagram | Dippy Dinner Drippers | Space Food.

LI - To understand test using reciprocal reading.

The differences and the similarities in the text can be found by comparing and contrasting using a Venn diagram to explain.

The Dippy Dinner Drippers is a book about a family that are messy eaters. They always have a weird mix of foot to eat at once. For an example Milk coco pops and marmalade.

The similarities of both of the books are - both books are the same

Inquiry

LI - To learn different properties of light

We had a experiment about properties of Light, Sound, and Wave

We experimented with light, sound and waves. First we combined colors together to figure out
what happens to the light when it passes through the different colored liquid.

When we shone the light through blue and yellow it created into green and the blue absorbed the yellow.
We were using red, blue, and yellow colored liquid for this experiment.

Next we started on with the sound experiment.
We used the clappers for making the sound high using the beads we had to use the clappers also for making the beads move. It had a  little bit of movement in this experiment.

Inquiry - Properties of light

LI - To observe the properties of light.

Light is something really bright that helps you while your somewhere very dark or if you run out of power.

For our first thing we had to do was we had to measure the line of the light so that we can see if the line for the light was straight. We had to use our peace of paper that had a gap and we needed to use the paper to make a straight line with the light.

Next we had to use a wooden opiate object. The opiate object blocked the way for the light to pass and to continue traveling and also means the light can not go through the opiate object. After that we had to use the top of the glass cup and it didn't really block the light because the light continued to travel around the top of the glass. When me and my partner finished using the top of the glass we started to use the bottom of the glass and on the bottom of the glass the light kind of bounced of the glass.

The last things that were that we had to use a glass mirror, a transparent object and the light with the prism.
First of all we got to use the glass mirror and we discovered that the light can reflect off any object.
After we got to use the glass mirror we started to use the transparent object.
We had to use the transparent object for covering the light and when we covered the light with the transparent object then the light changed into green.
After we were done using the transparent object we started using the prism with the light. The prism formed a rainbow when it hit the middle of the prism.

Time Template 4 | Maths | Rounding

Rounding is a math strategy that uses division and addition strategies.
Rounding means to circle it to the nearest ten, hundred, thousands, and more.
Addition and division are both operations the are used for rounding.
To round, the person needs to find the mean, to find the mean get a set
of numbers like 5,7,1,9,3 and then add them altogether which would make 25.
Then divide them by the amount of numbers there are which makes 5.
Here comes the rounding part comes in so if the numbers are 5-9 they are called
high five and the numbers that are 0-4 they are called four floor.
Look for the last digit.
Example: 21.85 now becomes 21.9 because 5 is above.

Rounding can help people to add and to divide to make maths easy or hard depending
on what level you are.

LI - investigate units in time

Swimming - T3W2

LI - To learn new swimming activity's.

Today for swimming my swimming couch was Shanti. First we learnt how to do a safe pool entry. For doing a safe pool entry we need both our hands on the side of one of our hips then we need to slide ourselves carefully into the pool.

Next we did freestyle. To do freestyle we have our arms like a wave taking turns going out of the water and back in the water. After, we started on with streamline.
For how to do streamline we put your hands and arm straight and on top of our heads with our feet under the water while pedaling.

Also we did a side stroke floating with the swimming board.
If you use a board you hold the board in any hand and that hand has to be on top of your head while holding the board and your other hand on the side of your body also you have to pedal side ways.

For the last activity we did is called a dolphin dive. when you do a dolphin dive you need to swim with your bottom going up and down along with your stomach going in and out with both your hands on your sides.

Maori

LI - To learn the meaning of Maori and write it down in English.

For Maori this week we had to find out the meaning of some Maori words using translate and Maori dictionary.

In Maori we also played a game that helped us understand what we can write for an answer.

Touch Rugby skills

Today we learned some basic skills for touch rugby.

First we learned how to tap the ball, score a try, catch, and pass the ball.

Afterwards we played passing drills to get better at committing to the ball and catching.

I had fun doing this activity because it had cool challenges.

Inquiry - Good and Bad insulator.

Insulators are used to stop heat from moving place to place. Five materials were tested for the ability to insulate: plastic, paper, polystyrene, glass, and metal.

The best insulator for keeping it warm were glass and polystyrene. The worst insulator were plastic, paper, and metal.

The best insulator for keeping it cool were plastic, paper, and polystyrene. The worst insulator were glass, and metal.

The best one for both warm and cold was polystyrene.

LI - To determine the insulation properties of materials

Inquiry

We learnt about the absorbency of different materials.

In Inquiry we had different materials to find information of what will happen.                                          We filled a measuring container with water up to 100ml and 50ml of the material we were experimenting.

We had a tray so if any of the water that didn't absorbed into the materials so it doesn't make a mess.     Also we had to measure the unabsorbed water.

We had to compare the absorbency of the materials that are stone, cotton, sand and paper towels.            With my group we chose sand.

LI - To determine the absorbency of different materials using experimental methods

Touch

We learnt how to do the positions in touch.

For our first event we learnt catching and throwing on our own then we had a partner to learn catching and passing. To proper catching we had our hand shaped as a double-you.

Our next event we learnt how to move with the ball but without dropping it. We did different was to throw the ball in the air then catch it.

Next we practiced all of the events we were taught with a game. In the game we had different colored hula hoops to place our rugby balls

LI - To learn the skills related to touch.

Reading|Making Connections

This week we have been learning about making connections.
Using these three topics witch are text to self, text to text, and text to world.

We had done this using the gruffalo story to make our connections.
we had to make connection with a text simpler to the gruffalo also we had compared the gruffalo with our self and last we compared the gruffalo story with the word.

LI - To compare products using reciprocal reading.

Kiwi Sport: Swimming

Today i practiced water safety skills at the lagoon pools.

The first skill I practiced was kicking. To do this skill well, I need to kick with my legs straight.

Next I practiced streamline. To do this skill well, I need to put my arms straight with them behind my ears.

After,  I practiced backstroke. To do this skill well, I need my arms straight with both hands holding the board a line with my hip.

Then, I practiced backwards kicking. To do This skill well, I need to push stomach up and keep my legs straight while kicking.

Lastly I practiced how to swim down to the bottom of the pool and through the hoop using any swimming style.

LI - To develop knowledge of water safety.

Reading - Explain The Idiom

LI - To practice using explain the idioms.

An idiom is a phrase that means different things from what words should usually mean.
For an example "Piece of cake".
"Piece of cake" is used for an end of a sentence saying that something is really easy for people.
We had made three idioms. The three topics for the idioms are, have mixed feelings witch means not sure for how you feel. Then we had done mumbo jumbo witch is something you can say for something that is totally nonsense or doesn't make sense. Last we did hot potato witch means something is hard, difficult and dangerous for people to do.
